The Jalapeno Pepper is named after the town of Jalapa in the state of Veracruz in Mexico. Diced Jalapeno Chilies are 1/4 diced pieces of a whole Jalapeno Pepper which have a bright to dull green in color.

Dehydrated jalapeno peppers have a zing to them, but they are not overpowering, and have a rating in the range of 5,000 to 10,000 Scoville Heat Units.
